The 1997 cinema Titanic cemented Leonardo DiCaprio as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. In the film, DiCaprio played Jack Dawson, a struggling artist who falls in love with Kate Winslet’s character, Rose DeWitt Bukater, while they are passengers on the RMS Titanic.
As part of the film’s soundtrack, Celine Dion recorded a song called “My Heart Will Go On”. As Titanic, “My Heart Will Go On” ended up being a huge hit. During the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, Chris Martin of Coldplay performed “My Heart Will Go On” as a tribute to DiCaprio.
The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation celebrated its anniversary
The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation was established in 1998, and the non-profit organization focuses on protecting wildlife and paying attention to issues such as climate change. On September 15, 2018, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation hosted a 20th anniversary benefit evening.
The founding anniversary celebration was a zero waste event and included an auction and dinner to raise funds to combat the effects of climate change.
According to a Press release which was shared prior to the event, “The auction will offer unique experiences, collectibles and artwork… The 20th Anniversary Celebration in Sonoma, Calif. will be co-hosted by Founder and President of LDF Leonardo DiCaprio and Emerson Collective Founder Laurene Powell, whose studded chair group includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Madonna, Ellen DeGeneres and Robert Redford.

Chris Martin sang the famous song “Titanic” for Leonardo DiCaprio
On the anniversary, Martin performed a number of songs, including popular Coldplay hits like “Viva La Vida”. The Coldplay singer also recalled Titanic and covered “My Heart Will Go On” by Dion.
After Martin performed “My Heart Will Go On” for DiCaprio, producer Roma Downey shared a video of the performance on Instagram.
“We love Chris Martin. He is one of the good guys with a sincere heart. Here he is singing “My heart will go on” to Leonardo DICaprio last night in Sonoma at the @leonardodicapriofdn event, “Downey said in a caption of the Instagram Publish.

Chris Martin made fun of Leonardo DiCaprio at the event
In addition to performing songs for the famous actor, Martin also took the time to make fun of DiCaprio. On stage, Martin linked DiCaprio’s love for cargo shorts to saving the environment.
“I have studied him very closely for about five or six years and what has become clear to me is his incredible service, his commitment to the cargo shorts business,” Martin said in a speech according to Entertainment tonight.
He continued, “He’s a guy, he saw cargo shorts and he said, ‘I’m going to save these shorts from extinction. They should have come out about 25 years ago. I will personally fund the cargo shorts kind of rebirth.
Most recently, Martin released a song called “My Universe” with Coldplay and the members of BTS. DiCaprio will be seen next in the 2021 film Do not seek.
