Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast named best cities in Europe for singles looking for love

While those bemoaning their single status may think the Emerald Isle is a useless place for dating, Ireland has been revealed to have some of the best cities for singles.

It turns out that not just one, but four of Ireland’s cities – north, south, east and west – are among Europe’s fifty most promising cities for finding love.

The data has been respected by Large 7 Travel, and took into account the rate of use of Tinder and dating apps, the percentage of single people per capita, and the city’s overall population.

Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast were each named in the list, alongside popular European cities like Paris, Rome and Amsterdam.

Galway

Galway came in at 42nd place on the list – not the best for the city on this list which is closest to the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival, but at least it made the cut.

Galway is said to have the highest percentage of singles in Ireland – 53.3% – which confirms its place on the list as you’re more likely to find that the person you liked is available.

A 2020 ‘love-o-meter’ poll by Swizzels Love Hearts found that 20% of Irish people think Galway is the best place for romance, so head west if you’re looking for romance.

Belfast

It is the jewel in the crown of Northern Ireland and with the renowned spirit of the people of Belfast, it is no wonder the city has found its place on this list.

Coming in 29th place, Belfast is said to have more than 100,000 singles living in the city.

With the combination of this focus and the RMS Titanic Museum experience to take your appointments to, the city is a shoe for those looking for love.

Cork

Exactly halfway down the list at 25th place is The Rebel County.

Cork has some of the country’s most amazing hangouts, like the famous English Market, Fitzgerald Park and Glenview Gardens.

A metropolis of howlers, you’re likely to tag a girlfriend or boyfriend in this city for singles.

Dublin

Arrived at number 13, beating Glasgow, Barcelona and Amsterdam, Dublin is lucky in love.

Dublin has some of the best bars in the country, from The George to Whelans to P Macs, and if you’re looking to meet the person of your dreams you can do so with a pint of black stuff.

Plus, Dublin has the largest urban population in Ireland, which means you’re more likely to find someone who is right for you.
