Israel Shipyards and IAI announce cybersecurity collaboration agreement

Israel Shipyards and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have signed an agreement to collaborate on the development of a cybersecurity system for ships, the two companies said Thursday.

About 95% of Israel’s imports arrive through the ports.

In a statement, the IAI and Israel Shipyards noted that the International Maritime Organization (IMO) recently updated cybersecurity requirements for ships and ports. This correlates with the growing threats of cyber attacks around the world.
The statement added that any potential cyberattack on Israeli ships or ports could undermine the stability and functioning of Israeli shipping.

The cybersecurity system to be developed will integrate defense mechanisms specific to the technical aspects of ships.

“We are proud to cooperate with the IAI. Our cooperation combines Israel Shipyard‘s experience and expertise in the construction and maintenance of military and commercial vessels with IAI’s cyber capabilities, ”said Samy Katsav, President of Israel Shipyard.

“The collaboration with Israel Shipyards provides a cyber defense solution for commercial vessels. IAI is a national source of cybersecurity knowledge and the agreement will provide a successful cybersecurity system for all ships built by Israel Shipyards, ”said Boaz Levy, CEO of IAI. .
