Tennessee made another engagement on Saturday morning, winning the engagement from three-star offensive tackle Maurice Clipper Jr. The Georgia native made his announcement below with a message on Twitter.
Clipper just wrapped up his official visit to Tennessee in the last week of June. He also made official visits to Louisville and Virginia Tech last month. He first saw Tennessee in the Orange & White game on an unofficial visit.
The 6-4, 299-pound tackle is another example of a guy with a loaded offer list, but his ranking doesn’t exactly match. Clipper is ranked 791st overall in the 2022 class, by 247Sports. He is the 66th ranked player in the state of Georgia, but holds offers from Alabama and the home state Bulldogs.
Clipper is Tennessee’s third offensive line entry, joining three-star Brian Grant and three-star Masai Reddick. It is the tenth overall commitment of the Volunteers, who currently rank 41st in the 247Sports class ranking.
Tennessee will likely lose K’Rojhn Calbert, Riley Locklear, Jerome Carvin and Cade Mays after this season. At this point, the Volunteers have done a good job replacing those numbers and are still at the heart of things with four-star goaltender Addison Nichols.
