The Titanic never sank, claims one of the most important of many conspiracy theories about major world events. Almost a century after the naval tragedy, the far-fetched proposition presents the argument that the historic ship never sank and that its sister liner was wrecked in its place.
However, the fact remains that a ship sank in the cold waters of the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912 and approximately 1,500 passengers were killed in the sinking.
Each conspiracy theory includes one or more villains, and in the case of the Titanic Theory, it was mega-banker JP Morgan and his associates.
And according to this theory, the White Star Line traded ships for the Southampton to New York trip, putting the old Olympic liner in place of the brand new Titanic.
Theorists say the purpose of the evil scheme was simply an insurance scam to claim compensation, along with fears that the company would lose credibility if its flagship sank on its maiden voyage.
Large Ships War
At the start of the 20th century, there was a war between the major cruise lines, with the White Star Line and the Cunard Steamship Company – both British – being rivals.
Cunard’s flagship ships were the Lusitania and Mauretania, both faster than existing White Star Line ships before the Titanic.
In 1902, financier JP Morgan funded the White Star Line, setting company president J. Bruce Ismay on the path to building luxury ships, known as Olympic-class ships.
They should be bigger, faster, and more expensive. These were the Olympic, the Titanic and the Britannic.
The lead ship was the Olympic, the first to be built. His first trips are very successful. However, on her fifth voyage, the ship encountered serious problems.
Problem with the Olympic liner
On September 20, 1911, the Olympic collided with HMS Hawke just off the coast of the Isle of Wight.
The Olympic took an unexpected turn and both ships crashed. The Olympic was able to limp back into port, sustaining significant damage. A lawsuit would later hold the White Star Line responsible for the incident.
Serious problems then ensued for the ship’s owners, White Star Line.
First, they could not claim the insurance money for the damage to the ship caused by the incident, as the Olympic was responsible for the collision.
Second, the Titanic’s maiden voyage is expected to be delayed from March 20 to April 10. This meant that they would have no money to pay the bills, and that they would have the cost of repairing the Olympic.
Third, the British White Star Line was losing revenue, also losing to its main competitor, the Cunard Steamship Company, Ltd.
So the owners had to plan a way to get compensation for the ship, according to the far-fetched theory that the Titanic never sank.
The plot behind the sinking of the Titanic
The White Star Line had to find a way to recoup the lost revenue due to the Olympic incident.
According to the conspiracy theory, the company would replace the name of the wrecked Olympic with that of the newly built Titanic, while the Olympic would be presented as the Titanic.
This meant that the real Olympic had to travel as the Titanic and be destroyed so that the White Star Line could collect an insurance payment worthy of a brand new ship.
In order for the Olympic to look exactly like the new Titanic, work needs to be done. The floors should be carpeted, as the Olympic had tiled floors soiled with spilled drinks and footprints.
Other parts of the ship have reportedly been altered, such as removing the cabins from the current Titanic’s “B” deck and replacing them with the Olympics promenade to make the change more believable.
However, the portholes on the “C” deck of the Olympic could not be modified to resemble those of the Titanic. The older ships were unevenly spaced while those of the Titanic were equal, an argument giving more credence to the theory that the Titanic never sank.
Blackmailed shipyards and sailors
Switching the two ships was not a task to go unnoticed, according to the theory. The people who built the Titanic and the sailors who sailed the Olympic would be the first to tell the difference and expose the Switch.
Over the years, people who had worked at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast knew that the two ships had in fact been swapped and if they told anyone, White Star Line told them it would be the last job. they ever did, say theorists.

The real Titanic “never sank”
Typically, on a ship’s maiden voyage, the owners were among the early travelers. However, the authorities supposed to board canceled at the last minute.
JP Morgan was among the people who canceled, according to the theory. The banker canceled his trip at the last minute, claiming he was in poor health.
Previously, Morgan had made a big deal by speaking publicly, certifying that he would be aboard the ship on her maiden voyage, according to the theory.
However, Morgan was spotted in France two days later and appeared to be in good health. In addition, the financier allegedly removed seven valuable bronze statues an hour before the ship left Southampton.
The claim that Morgan was seen healthy two days later cannot be confirmed more than a century later.
Then it was White Star Line President J. Bruce Ismay who canceled his trip with his family because his wife had fallen ill. The Ismay family was theorized to be seen vacationing in Wales soon after.
Again, theorists provide no evidence that the Ismay family was seen shortly after the Titanic’s maiden voyage.
The absence of the two main actors from the maiden voyage of the cursed liner seems to reinforce the conspiracy theory that the Titanic never sank and the Olympic is the ship at the bottom of the North Atlantic.
Yet despite all the arguments presented, conspiracy theorists provide no solid evidence for their claims, with the sinking of the Titanic remaining one of the greatest maritime tragedies in history.
