Vintage digs and more at Shipyard Park

The Vintage Truck and Hoboken Historical Museum are hosting “Vintage Around the Park”, a vintage pop-up trade fair in Shipyard Park on Sunday, October 10, 10 am to 5 pm. The event will feature over 25 local vendors offering curated collections. of vintage clothing and hand embellished.

The Vintage Truck is a new venture from Faith Lauter that offers local vintage goods as an alternative to fast fashion and online shopping. She selected Hoboken vendors who share her passion for the event.

Professional fashion stylist Rachel Varney (@styledbyrv) will be on hand to give shoppers advice on how to wear and pair unique pieces found at the show. Refreshments will also be offered by Do Good Donuts. The New Orleans Renaissance will help set the mood with a performance during the fair.

Highlights include: fashions inspired by Shari Tata’s old wild west (@shari_tata_); trendy furniture with a mid-century modern vibe from Into the Void Antiques (@intothevoidantiques); vintage Halloween decorations and other decorative accessories from Junk in the Jeep (@junkinthejeep); sought-after mid-century modern and industrial furniture from Schvvanks (@schvvanks); and items from longtime Hoboken’s vintage mecca, Revival Vintage Boutique (@revivalvintageb) among many others.

Buyers are encouraged to bring tote bags. A rainy date is forecast for Saturday September 16th. Shipyard Park is located at 1 13th St., Hoboken.

Waterfront Arts Gala

Hoboken’s cultural arts will benefit on Tuesday when the city hosts its annual Waterfront Arts Gala, which returns after a hiatus during the pandemic.

The gala is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, at 12th Street Pier, on Sinatra Drive North, overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

The event features food and drink tastings as well as showcases by local artists, with works available for purchase. In a press release, Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla said the city will unveil a special project at the event.

Participating restaurants and chefs include Halifax, Il Tavolio, Olivia’s, Empanada’s Café, The Madison, Leo’s Grandevous, Carpe Diem, 80 River Street, Dino & Harry’s, Cannoli by Tom Foley and Cosmo Sancilio, and many more.

The event is open to people 21 and over. Tickets cost $ 65 and can be purchased online at hobokennj.gov/register. Those who purchase tickets will need to show proof of vaccination to attend.

Funds raised at the event benefit the city’s Cultural Arts Trust and public art initiatives. Events organized by the Cultural Affairs Division, such as Movies Under the Stars, the Hoboken Fall Arts & Music Festival and Concerts in the Park Series, are not funded from the city budget and depend on funding from sponsors and donors. events like the gala.

Lot beer and bacon festival

The Lot sidewalk in Jersey City will be lined with local brews and bacon dishes on Saturday, October 9, with the Bacon & Beer Festival.

You can sample seven bacon dishes, two sweet treats, and over 50 beers and ciders. When you register, you can visit every booth spread across the grounds, stocked with beers and bacon.

If you plan to attend, bring your printed or mobile ticket and valid photo ID. Participants who do not have their ticket or ID will not be admitted to the event and will not be reimbursed. Admission is for 21 years and over.

Activities and more at the Fall Harvest Festival

Farms in the Heights is hosting the Fall Harvest Festival at Riverview Park on Sunday, October 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The festival will feature pumpkin decorations for kids throughout the day, among other activities and live music, including giant bubbles at 11 a.m., Sofia Oro at 11:30 a.m. and the Christine Santelli Band at 1 p.m.
